Very few people enjoy interviews, but they are a very important part of the recruitment process and you will be unlikely to escape them!

Here are some helpful pointers:

When you have an Interview the most important thing for you to remember is PREPARATION! Preparation is the key to performing well at an interview

Before the face to face Interview

• Always be sure where you are going (which site? Parking available? Transport links?)
• Plan your dress and appearance
• Ensure you present yourself well (ironing your shirt is a good start!)
• Plan some answers to particularly tough questions e.g. What are your weaknesses?
• Spend some time researching the company (there isn’t much you can’t find out on the internet so this can be a useful starting point!)
• Prepare some questions that you want to ask the company

What to do when you get to the Interview

• Smile!
• Have a firm handshake
• Make eye contact (but don't hold it for too long or you could make the interviewer feel uncomfortable!)
• Answer questions in a positive manner and don't be afraid to ask for further explanations if the question is unclear
• Don't look too relaxed, sit upright
• Be enthusiastic about the job and the company
• Ensure you demonstrate an ability to fit in and get on well with other people and avoid any suggestion of laziness

At the end of the interview

• Summarise your case
• Thank the Interviewer for his/her time
• Reiterate your keenness on the role
