Very few people enjoy interviews, but they are a very important part of the recruitment process and you will be unlikely to escape them!

Here are some helpful pointers:

When you have an Interview the most important thing for you to remember is PREPARATION! Preparation is the key to performing well at an interview

Before the Interview

• Always be sure where you are going
• Plan your dress and appearance
• Think about your personal hygiene!
• Plan some answers to particularly tough questions e.g. What are your weaknesses?
• Spend some time researching the company (nothing gives a worse impression than someone turning up to an interview with no idea about the company)
• Prepare some questions that you want to ask the company

What to do when you get to the Interview

• Smile!
• Have a firm handshake
• Make eye contact (but don't hold it for too long or you could make the interviewer feel uncomfortable!)
• Answer questions in a positive manner and don't be afraid to ask for further explanations if the question is unclear
• Don't look too relaxed, sit upright
• Be enthusiastic about the job and the company
• Ensure you demonstrate an ability to fit in and get on well with other people, ensuring you avoid any suggestion of laziness

At the end of the interview

• Summarise your case
• Thank the Interviewer for his/her time
• Reiterate your keenness on the role
