Starting out in Recruitment

Having graduated with a Business Administration degree at the start of June 2007 I was seeking a fast moving profession that demanded hard work but offered great reward. It was clear from the very start of my search following university, that Matchtech was the right place to find such a career.

Having had some experience in a sales environment prior to my employment at Matchtech I was well aware of the challenges that lay in wait for me, especially regarding the intense effort that would be required in the early stages. My experience of this time at Matchtech however, was totally different. The friendly staff, from fellow consultants to directors, the closely knit team environment, the extensive training and the excellent market reputation of Matchtech Group meant that I managed to get through the hardest part of the job without noticing all the hard work and dedication it had taken.

I have now been at Matchtech for 3 months and have successfully placed four people for which I have received my first taste of some hard earned commission. Beyond these early placements, like all other consultants, I have canvassed clients and worked candidates firstly for fellow consultants and then for my own roles. I have already experienced many of the highs and lows that recruitment can offer. Although as with any job, there are a few inevitable low times, the highs that recruitment can offer far outweigh them. The buzz of placing people is very exciting and extremely satisfying.

As well as being a sales role that involves meeting targets and budgets whilst striving to make yourself and the company the maximum amount of money, there is a really warm feeling that is generated from placing a satisfied candidate.

I would recommend recruitment at Matchtech to anyone who possesses the drive and will to succeed that is necessary in a sales environment.
