Matchtech sponsor PICU Ambulances

Matchtech Group Plc, is one of the UK’s largest independent recruitment companies, which employs more than 200 staff, is the main sponsor of Southampton General Hospital's Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
Matchtech sponsor PICU’s vital retrieval vehicles and are helping them in their quest to raise a further £100,000 for a new ambulance by supporting PICU’s own events and dedicating their own functions to PICU. A recent dress-down day for all Matchtech staff was dedicated to raising money for PICU and the staff donated £280 to the cause.
Southampton’s PICU provides cardiac and neonatal surgery, treating over 700 critically ill children every year. Their medical team provides a regional ambulance retrieval service. This retrieval service consists of a highly skilled team who have specialist training in the transfer of sick children from other hospitals to the PICU at Southampton. The Retrieval Team will take a dedicated ambulance and specialist equipment that is essential in caring for children requiring intensive care “on the move”. Such as a portable ventilator, special lightweight pod for babies and a vacuum blanket that forms a protective shell around older children.
Matchtech's Marketing and Communications Consultant, Josie Dean, met with PICU’s Dr Peter Wilson to express Matchtech’s keenness to help with this very worthy cause. Dr Wilson said "The retrieval ambulance is used around 300 times a year to transport critically ill children around the whole of the Wessex area. The specialist equipment used in the Ambulance is scaled down for the need of children. This equipment is very costly and because of this we really appreciate Matchtech's continuing support."
