Matchtech raise funds for specialist health care unit

Matchtech Group PLC, the technical recruitment specialists, held a charity golf day to raise funds for Southampton General Hospital’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). The company became the main sponsor for PICU earlier this year, donating £2000 to their specialist ambulance service. The charity golf day contributed a further £600 to the specialist children’s unit.
PICU provide cardiac and neonatal surgery, treating over 700 critically ill children every year. Their medical team provides a regional ambulance retrieval service as well as repatriating critically ill children from around the world. Matchtech has supported PICU before, but this year have become their main sponsors.
The golf day was held under perfect conditions at Quindell Golf Club in Whiteley. Nineteen teams, made up of Matchtech consultants and their clients, enjoyed a competitive and fun day of golf. A selection of prizes including a Sony HiFi, a DVD Player and various items of golf equipment were raffled for the charity, raising the £600 donated to PICU.
Managing Director, Paul Raine, who played in the charity event, said, “We are very pleased to help support the children’s intensive care unit in Southampton. The work they do touches the lives of thousands of people. It is a wonderful facility and one that we would like to continue to support. Having sponsored their ambulance service earlier this year, we felt a day on the golf course with our clients would be a great way to raise more funds and, of course, to enhance our business relationships”
(Kim Harris) of PICU added; “ We are very grateful to Matchtech for their continuing support. The money raised helps to maintain the unit and enables us to provide specialist medical attention for hundreds of children every year. It is reassuring to have such a large company like Matchtech supporting the work we do."
