Matchtech provides Managed Agency services to DML

Matchtech Group, the technical recruitment specialists, are helping some of the UK’s largest ship building and engineering support service companies to source skilled personnel.

Matchtech have demonstrated how they can drive down recruitment costs whilst enhancing the resources and efficiency of human resources operations.

Plymouth based DML have appointed Matchtech Group as their managed agents for industrial recruitment in June 2002. The success of this agreement culminated in their further appointment as managed agents for non-industrial staff in May last year. This dramatically reduced DML's recruitment dealings from 52 different agents to just one. With over 15,000 skilled marine workers now on their books, Matchtech's recruitment service has enabled DML, who are the South West’s largest employer, to significantly reduce their recruitment and administration costs.

DML's Human Resources Director said "We appointed Matchtech as managed agents in 2002, to cover the recruitment of craft and non-craft labour for our general operations. The benefits are clear, with substantial savings in cost and an improved communication structure, which allows us to deal with one dedicated point of contact. Having seen the benefits, we appointed Matchtech as managed agents for our technical, professional and managerial sector covering the recruitment of highly skilled engineers and IT specialists. The managed agency solution has been very effective at driving down costs and efficiency."

Their role as managed agents requires Matchtech to cover DML'sspectrum of recruitment needs. They also advise on expected rates in any of the recruitment fields, which further contributes to controlling costs and provide valuable market information to DML.

Director of Matchtech, Adrian Gunn explained, "As managed agents it is our responsibility to provide our clients with the best possible recruitment service. We effectively become their human resources operation. Our focus is on the recruitment market, we understand market trends and rates and we can ensure that our clients benefit from this knowledge. We would expect to provide about 80 percent of DML's recruitment needs ourselves but where we need to extend our resources, we do so by utilising a select number of other agencies. The marine industry is a core business area for us, and we apply our knowledge to benefit our clients."
