PICU Golf Day September 07

News Image

Matchtech Group, one of the UK’s largest Recruitment Agencies, recently held a Charity Golf Day at Quindell Golf and Country Club in Whiteley. Matchtech organised the Golf Day to raise money for the Friends of PICU Charity at the Southampton General Hospital. The event raised £660 which the company then matched to raise a grand total of £1320, a fantastic contribution towards Southampton Hospitals Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).

There were 19 teams competing, each of which included a combination of Matchtech employees and their clients. Some of the clients involved were VT Group, Fleet Support Ltd, IAC, Web Technology Group and Emcor.

The winning team (pictured below) included Ed Wright (Matchtech’s Divisional Director for Automotive and Aerospace) and his clients, Simon Stevens and Chris Nunn from Cobham Plc and Tom Turner from Flight Refuelling Ltd. In addition to organising the Golf Day, Matchtech donated many excellent prizes including a portable DVD player and a set of Royal Doulton champagne glasses.

Matchtech are the main sponsors of Southampton General Hospital’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and have been a regular contributor to PICU for the last 3 years. In addition to sponsorship of the unit, Matchtech regularly organises fundraising activities on PICU’s behalf. Last year the charity held a similar Golf Day raising £600 of additional funds and Matchtech also donated £280 towards the PICU emergency ambulance.

PICU Southampton Hospital is a regional centre of excellence in children’s Intensive Care. One of the best, modern and most successful Units of its kind in the UK, PICU treats approximately 700 critically ill and injured children each year, from babies up to 17 years old.
