Matchtech at the Masters!
On Thursday 17th September 2009 Matchtech participated in the NCE (New Civil Engineer) Charity Golf Masters, which was held at Cuddington Golf Club in Surrey. The NCE is the leading magazine publication for civil engineers and the Construction industry and this was their ninth annual Charity Golf day, held in support of the charity Redr. Redr is an international charity that provides training and recruitment services to the Humanitarian Sector, improving emergency response worldwide. The charity serves to improve the skills of relief workers, ensuring that the right people are available and are responding effectively to emergencies.
Matchtech’s team (Roger Bannard, Simon Wilson, Ben Hurst and Darius Sarosh) was keen to have a solid round, taking care not to embarrass themselves in front of key clients, who included: Balfour Beatty, Costain, Mott MacDonald and Parsons Brinkerhoff.
Stepping up to the first tee the team was full of optimism and enthusiasm. This was short lived as two team members promptly put their tee shots into the nearest line of trees. Fortunately they soon settled down and an excellent team effort meant they even won first prize!
Speaking of the event, team member Roger Bannard stated:"The whole event was beautifully run by the NCE and Cuddington Golf Club. We had a great time and were very happy to take home the trophy".
Hopefully Matchtech will be invited to attend next year to defend their trophy!
