Fareham Nomads Swimming Club
Recruitment company Matchtech Group Plc recently supplied Fareham Nomads swimming club with a new state of the art laptop computer and software. This will help run the club administration more effectively and improve organisation at swimming galas. The laptop was first used at the Fareham nomads open meet (hundreds of swimmers from 30 different clubs). Held at the Quays in Southampton in 15th and 16th July.
Matchtech Group plc is one of the UK’s largest technical recruitment companies employing over 200 staff at their offices in Whiteley. Established in 1984, the company has rapidly grown to become the largest single site recruitment agency in the UK with a turnover of £155m. Annually Matchtech sponsors the club by providing cash donations to help run the club and mainly support the local youngsters under 16.
The club was formed in 1974, the name originated from the fact that the Club did not have a home pool and therefore led a 'nomadic' existence. However since 1980 their base has been Fareham leisure centre and they also use a pool at Westhill Park School in Titchfield. Since then, the Club has grown considerably and today has a membership of around 350 children and young adults.
They start swimmers at 4 years old, teach them the basics and take them right the way through until juniors. Hopefully we can help them supply British Olympics Swimmers for 2012.
