Plymouth Half Marathon – 25th May 2008
In memory of Graham De'ath

On Sunday 25th May, 8 runners from Matchtech Group took on the challenge of the Plymouth Half Marathon. The run, which attracts 5,000 competitors, was a tribute to Graham De'ath, a Southampton resident and Saints fan his whole life, who sadly lost his battle against Alzheimer's earlier this year. Graham’s son Simon, who works at Matchtech, decided it would be a great way to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society.
The Alzheimer's Society is leading UK care and research charity for people with Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. By getting involved, Simon, along with members of Matchtech's Offshore & Marine team and friends and family took part in a fitting tribute to his father Graham as well as helping others who have been affected by this terrible disease.
Matchtech Group kindly donated £500 and a further £160 was raised at a colleagues wedding (through a sweepstake on how long the best man speech would be!) The total raised was around £2500!
Former Saints Manager, Lawrie McMenemy is a patron of the Alzheimer's Society. He visited Matchtech's offices to offer his support to the runners. (Pictured above)
