Charity Support at Matchtech!

The ever energetic and sporting staff at Matchtech are putting their athleticism and bravery to good use this Spring through a combination of sky dives, marathons and moonwalks in aid of their chosen charities.

First up are Anouska Surrey, Mark Lewis and Matthew Wragg who will be running the Flora London Marathon on April 26th. Anouska will be running for 'Get Kids Going' a charity that helps to promote and encourage disabled children's participation in sport. Mark Lewis is running for Wessex Cancer Trust, providers of crucial financial support to various aspects of cancer care in the UK such as treatment research, improvement of patient facilities and equipment purchasing.

Mark says, "I am really lucky to get a place with Wessex Cancer Trust; they are a wonderful charity, helping local cancer sufferers. All the money raised goes directly to helping people and their families with this disease that affects 1 in 3 people".

Finally, Matthew Wragg is running for Friends of PICU (Paediatric Intensive Care Unit), based at Southampton General Hospital. A renowned centre for excellence, PICU treats approximately 700 critically ill babies a year and as a result Friends of PICU raise funds to buy equipment and facilitate major projects.

Embarking on a slightly different challenge are Jo Hinks, Michelle Jewitt and Natalie Allen who will be completing the 'Walk the Walk' Moonwalk on May 16th in aid of breast cancer research. At the prospect of participating in a challenging 26.2 mile walk around London, overnight, whilst wearing a decorative bra they hope to raise considerable sums! The amount they raise will aid Walk the Walk in their efforts to donate funds to breast cancer projects and campaigns as well as to the provision of care centres for breast cancer sufferers.

Jo adds, "This is a great cause to be involved with and will be an enormous achievement for each of us when we've completed it. We are all really looking forward to the event and our fundraising is coming along nicely."

Last but not least, on Wednesday 27th May four brave Matchtech employees will take part in a charity tandem skydive with the red devils, also in aid of Wessex Cancer Trust. Alex Langstom, Janine Cool, Laura Bennett and Lizzie White will be found in Netheravon Airfield in Salisbury, joining the world's most famous parachute display team to complete a 10,000ft jump in support of the charity. Another fearless jumper is Alex Kerr, who will be completing a tandem skydive in aid of Leukaemia Busters.

Speaking of her imminent jump, Lizzie says, "I am really looking forward to jumping in aid of Wessex Cancer Trust. The Trust raises money to help improve the lives of people with cancer. To do the jump the four of us have to raise a whopping £400 each so any contribution would be very much appreciated and we are hoping to hold various events to reach our target. If you are interested in sponsoring me, Laura, Alex and Janine then please donate through our Just Giving website":
