Important: C programming for Control Systems

Introduction:

The leading independent supplier of specialist subsea ROVs (Remote operated vehicles) requires an experienced C programmer to join its existing team

Job Specification:

Our client has an envied reputation as a manufacturer of innovative remotely operated specialist submersible vehicles and marine surface equipment for the Oil & Gas, Renewable energy, Telecoms and Mining markets. As well as an established range of standard work-class ROV products and vehicles the company designs and manufactures bespoke subsea trenching and mining equipment.

The company is design driven, organised in mixed discipline project teams with engineering expertise in mechanical, hydraulic, structural, geotechnical, software, Electrical/Electronic and project management, with the support and freedom to take new designs from concept to operation. Delivery times are often short with little room for error requiring the capability to achieve targets under pressure.

Due to continued growth of business and product range they are seeking an experienced Embedded / Real-time Software Engineer to work on exciting new projects.

Suitable candidates will have a relevant engineering qualification and be able to demonstrate a thorough understanding of real-time control systems and the software required. All candidates must be fully conversant in C programming, and have experience of QNX or an alternative real time operating system.

Experience in the marine or energy industries would be an advantage but is not essential. Applications are a welcome from Software Engineers who may not have exposure in these markets but whose experiences have resulted in a detailed understanding of control theory and systems operating in challenging operating conditions. Experience in Electrical / electronic design or GUI will also be useful.

The company offers a refreshing lack of big company bureaucracy, an informal but hard-working environment, combined with a competitive salary and benefits package, including Bonus, Healthcare, Pension and a flexible working week.
