Introduction:

Our client is not only globally established but at the forefront of design and manufacture of ejection seats and related equipment. They currently have the requirement for a new Senior commercial officer.

Job Specification:

This position will be ideally suited to a candidate who has existing commercial experience within the MoD, Defence markets with emphasis on Commercial proposals and quotations.

The main requirements for this position will be:

- Interpretation of Customer requirements.
- Collation of price information through liaison with responsible Department Managers and Estimating Department using structured data gathering techniques.
- Creation of accurate pricing spreadsheets.
- Ensuring Customer requirements are known and understood by responsible Department Managers.
- Commentaries on customer Terms & Conditions, incorporating inputs from other Department Managers where appropriate.
- Drafting of preferred shipment/payment and any other special terms in liaison with Commercial/Contracts Manager and/or Senior Commercial Officer.
- Responsiveness to questions raised by potential Customer.
- Writing/assistance in writing detailed Commercial Proposals addressing all aspects of a potential Customer’s request for proposal.
- Submission of Proposals for senior management approval within due date specified by the potential Customer.
- Passing of requests for quotation for standard parts to Sales Administration Section for generation of a quotation.
- Advising Sales Administration Section on special Labour/Materials rates and Mark-ups for use in quotations as necessary.
- Ensuring quotations are issued within one month of receipt of enquiry or within due date specified by the potential Customer.

The ideal candidate for this position will have an appreciation and understanding of the following:

- U.K aerospace and/or defence procurement procedures & practices
- Principles of Contract structures
- Contractual Terms & Conditions
- Pricing techniques
- Contract/price negotiation
- Invoicing protocols
- Contract management and administration techniques


The basic salary for this position will be starting at £30k - £35k (basic salary is flexible and can go up depending on level of experience.)
