Introduction:
An ideal opportunity has arisen to join BVT as a member of the Contractor Logistics Support (CLS) team. As part of BVT's innovative contractor logistics support programme two new challenging careers have arisen for experienced engineers.
Job Specification:
The successful candidates will both possess good inter personal skills, with a pragmatic approach to the customer, be flexible, and willing to work outside normal office hours to achieve the task in hand.
Responsibilities
- Take the Technical Lead on maintenance and defect rectification work on supported vessels including plant and equipment.
- Negotiate maintenance, warranty, and repair requirements with shipyards / suppliers on supported vessels.
- Manage the documentation and associated activities to maintain supported vessels in-class’ in accordance with Classification Society Rules and the customer’s requirements.
- Develop and maintain the maintenance philosophy of supported vessels.
- Act as one of the Duty Engineers giving 24-hour cover within the CLS vessel support team.
- Help develop and deliver Specialist to Type Training for ship’s staff on the vessels systems and sub systems as required.
- Undertake other duties and responsibilities within his competence as instructed by the CLS Manager.
Requirements
- ONC / HNC / HND Level qualification or equivalent service experience in Marine Mechanical or Marine Electronic Engineering.
- Join the Sponsored Royal Navy Reserve Scheme in support of Vessels.
- Be prepared to travel overseas in support of Vessels.
- Experience in maintenance and repair of Marine Vessels
- An understanding of Planned Maintenance Systems and Classification Society Rules
- Good inter personal and liaison skills, with a pragmatic approach to the customer.
Desirables
- Experience of River Class Fishery Patrol Vessels, and RN Echo Class Survey Vessels
- Experience of working under Classification Society Rules
- Experience in supporting Vessel Docking / Maintenance Periods
