Introduction:

The key objective of the UK General Manager will be to manage the UK Test & Services Business (including Test Engineering Services) and ensure that the Bookings, Revenue and Margin targets are exceeded.

Job Specification:

Therefore the General Manager is close to the market, has a profound knowledge of markets and (key) customers and a strong experience in Sales and Business development responsibilities in order to develop the presence of Test & Services UK.

The job holder knows how to establish and maintain strong relationships with Test & Services customers to increase the business volume. In addition, the UK General Manager will be part of the European Test & Services senior management team and will be a key participant in the development of the overall Test & Services strategy.

Key Challenges
The principle challenge will be to develop the UK business from its core position in a managed profitable manner to exceed the OP9 targets. The key customers will include the UK MoD and associated OEMs but the internal market will also be an important consideration. A major part of this activity will be the development of the long term Strategic Partnership with the MoD to provide deployed support for the UK Land forces. In addition, a key aspect will be to develop closer synergies with Test & Services, Europe, to enable a more coherent single European business to be presented to the UK market place with the resultant improvement in the offered capabilities and products.

Roles and Responsibilities
The General Manager will be responsible for the Profitability and growth of the UK Test & Services Business which will involve the capture and delivery of the UK programmes. This will include the direct management of the following functions;
Sales
Programme Delivery
Customer Support
Site Facilities
Test Engineering Services

In addition, the General Manager will be responsible for defining the requirements and monitoring the performance of the following UK shared services functions in relation to the service they provide for Test & Services (UK).
Finance
IT
HR
This will be managed in conjunction with the appropriate European Test & Services central function. The engineering capability will be provided by a Test & Services centralised function and the General Manger will be responsible for ensuring that the engineering requirement of the UK business are clearly defined and that the resources provided are suitably managed to deliver the required results.

Boundaries

The General Manager will have the authority to;
Approve proposal according to processes in place as long as there are no unusual Terms & Conditions and that the forecast EBIT is above the agreed target.
Manage the overheads of the UK business to ensure that the necessary support is provided within the agreed budgets
Oversee the development of the necessary processes and procedures to ensure the Quality of the service and products delivered to the customer are maintained.
Develop the necessary management team to achieve the business targets

The General Manager will be accountable for;
The profitability and growth of the Test & Services in the UK Market
The professional management of the UK test & Services business
The development and communication of the strategy to access the UK Test & Services Military & Aerospace market.
Development of closer synergies with Test & Services Europe.
