Introduction:

We have a vacancy at our Portsmouth Ship Facility for the position of Area Manager- Electrical.

Job Specification:

Reporting directly to the Ship Manager, the candidate will be responsible for Team Leaders, Charge Hands, Leading Hands, Trade and Ancillary Staff in a multi disciplined environment (i.e mechanical, paint, insulation & ventilation).

Main Duties and Responsibilities Include:

- Managing a multi-disciplined team in an area of the ship and have overall accountability for the installation of ship wide electrical systems.
- Management of the Team Leaders and staff to achieve work programs on time, within budget and to the requisite quality standards whilst creating an environment whereby the team can achieve the targets set in the most economical, logical and professional way.
- Manage absenteeism to company targets.
- Set up and manage risk within the project.
- Coordinate the process of managing change.
- Responsible for all Health and Safety issues within the project.

Role Requirements:

- A Good understanding of the Shipbuilding Industry.
- Management and development of the team.
- Providing clear objectives.

The Successful Candidate will:
- The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in leading and managing multi disciplined teams and have an electrical bias having completed either a time served apprenticeship or other relevant electrical qualification.
- The successful applicant will be able to conduct himself or herself in a manner appropriate to the status of the position and be able to demonstrate a high degree of professionalism within the department and with customers.
