Introduction:
There is a need for a Senior Civil and Industrial Cost Manager and Estimator in London. Cost Consultancy exists in London, the Midlands and Leeds. In each location it is under local control and has developed to serve the local need.
Job Specification:
In the Midlands it is highways based, in Leeds water-industry based. The London business is more diverse with work in airport planning, railways, marine, industry, site development and buildings. The senior cost manager and estimator will be based in London and working within the Cost Consultancy team which operates within the 140 strong Project Management group. You will be providing early cost estimates for civil engineering works on large (£50m to £2bn) projects including railways, e.g. Channel Tunnel Rail Link, airports and site developments. Providing a cost investigation service on large civil projects in progress in varying sectors. You will be writing and presenting reports on the above to clients of national and international importance and undertaking procurement and construction contract administration tasks. Applicants will be taking profit responsibility for themselves and the estimating support team on the projects which they carry out. You will be leading a team of 3 to 4 other cost planners and ensuring that the team wins work and contributes to the winning of work. Candidates must have relevant post-graduation experience as QS/estimator in PQS firm or QS in Consulting Engineering consultant or as a contractor (ideally experienced of both). You will have experience of railways, civils airports and highways as leader of a small group or technical skill area. Candidates must have experience of estimating from personal knowledge and personal data as well as estimating from research of industry databases. You will be report writing and presenting to managers and clients of limited QS systems.
