Project Manager / Senior Engineering- Instrumentation required join our client, a leading organisation providing a range of managed services and products to the energy, shipping and environmental sectors worldwide.
Job Specification:
Our clients principle aim is to provide safety, performance and environmental advice and related data to a range of clients through the provision of advanced monitoring systems, GIS products and innovative on-line and consultancy services.
The Role
Due to staff retirement, we have an upcoming requirement for a project manager / senior instrumentation engineer to lead the development and production of our instrumentation systems and assist in running our instrumentation and system production department. We develop and manufacture a range of instrumentation systems including:
- Ship hull stress and performance / fuel consumption monitoring systems;
- Simulator consoles and controls;
- Ship hull roughness analysers;
- Bespoke instrumentation as required.
The role will include liaison with our clients, agents and suppliers and will provide the successful candidate with opportunities to make a real impact to the Company through product developments, efficiency improvements and new business opportunities. An important part of this job is the management of the operation and safety of our engineering unit in accordance with the Company’s Quality Management System and relevant legislation.
Based in Southampton, the role will involve the management of project teams and will demand foreign travel to install and commission our products. In addition to a competitive salary, our client also provides an attractive benefits package which includes a profit sharing scheme.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will lead the production of a range of systems from design, through production to installation. Engineering qualifications in a related discipline are essential (e.g. mechanical engineering, electrical and electronics engineering or similar) as is the ability to deliver projects on time and budget in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Since our client base is global, a flexible working approach is key to a successful application.
Experience of managing systems production in a current role will be a distinct advantage as will the ability to demonstrate a track record of engineering design and project management. Experience of the marine industry and installation of systems on board ships or platforms will be advantageous.
