The Job
Job Purpose
To manage all aspects of Engineering design, drawing, manufacturing, installation and logistics operations ensuring efficient and cost effective service delivery. To produce and manage the Ashchurch operational budgets in line with key areas of service delivery, ensuring the effective management of staff and services required to deliver value for money solutions. Assume the responsibility for management of the Ashchurch site facility and Health & Safety programme.
Key Result Areas
Performance Management, ensure all staff have agreed objectives, performance reviews, training and coaching
Manage and develop the Manufacturing, Design, Installation and Logistics processes and procedures, implementing lean manufacturing techniques and best practice, where appropriate
Ensure business processes for operational engineering task planning and delivery are maintained to agreed performance levels.
Overall control and allocation of resources, to ensure business as usual projects / tasks are delivered on time and to budget
Develop and promote continual improvements in the Safety, Health & Environmental culture within Babcock
Seek to deliver efficiency savings and continuous improvements for all operational areas within the security domain
Promote safe conduct in the workplace acting as Health and Safety manager for site
Responsible for the operational budget for areas as detailed above, its accurate compilation, submission and management, ensuring all expenditure is controlled in line with agreed budget limits.
Develop motivated teams and individuals with clear goals and good working relationships
Responsible for conducting industrial relations with the Union
Foster good relationships with the customer, all parts of Babcock Group and other external organisations
Contribute to Company policy, procedure and governance, implementing new policy as appropriate
Responsible for the Facilities Management function and maintenance of standards, for site, covering the workshop and general office buildings at Ashchurch
Identify and promote business development opportunities
Implement and monitor Quality Control procedures to ISO standards
Safety & Health of self and others who may be affected by engineering activities, promoting safe conduct at all times and observing safe working practices as advised and instructed by appropriate bodies
Good working knowledge of and compliance with the Health and Safety policies and regulations associated with the Health & Safety at Work act
Report incidents or hazards which have led or may lead to injury
Set a personal example in the use of tools and equipment in wearing protective clothing and equipment
Essential Qualifications/Experience
Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline
A developed application in Quality control processes and procedures
Knowledge of lean manufacturing techniques
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Management of people and resources
A thorough knowledge of Safety, Health and Environment policy and regulations
Possession of a current full driving licence.
Desirable Qualifications/Experience
Membership of a recognised professional institution;
Developed application in industrial relations
Preparation and management of budgets
