Introduction
Polaris specialise in all-terrain vehicles and are looking for a Senior Powertrain Designer to join their team at their technical centre to be involved with design, CAD modelling & drawing of components from concept through to production.

The Job
JOB SUMMARY for SENIOR DESIGN ENGINEER:
Responsible for leading the design process of components from concept to production in order to achieve the product objectives within a specified time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for all design related actions on a variety of powertrain components or systems; e.g. component styling, purchasing and manufacturing issues with an emphasis on quality, reliability, timely delivery, and cost.
Determines the ideal system layout and specification, as well as specification for components.
Determines the ideal component manufacturing route to ensure overall design, performance, and cost conformance.
Determines the nature and type of electronic models, detail drawings, and analysis required to support the above and supervises their release through the Polaris release system.
Acts as technical point of contact for the respective systems & components with vendors and the internal project team.
Coordinate, mentor, and supervise designers within team.
Prepares preliminary sketches and/or schematic diagrams and/or presentations to aid in the understanding and solution of engineering problems.
Participates in or leads design reviews on projects to ensure adequate input and involvement from all interested groups.
Analyses field problems and recommends possible solutions.
Performs other miscellaneous project related assignments.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or close related equivalent
Extensive design experience in an O.E. Environment
Extensive CAD experience (5,000 hours+ ideally) Pro-Engineer
Superior technical knowledge as demonstrated by academic experience and broad practical experience in engine design.
Significant experience with one or more of the following powertrain design and development categories: base engine and associated systems (induction, exhaust, cooling, transmission, installation); bolted joints and fasteners, castings and forgings, electrical component specification and packaging, powertrain accessories.
GD&T, FMEA, dimensional stack-ups, ability to coach others in these areas.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Good strategic vision and business knowledge.
Demonstrated ability to lead major process change in a way that enhances overall corporate performance.
High level of people skills, able to work in a team environment.
Ability to work with domestic and international technology partners.
