Introduction
Polaris specialise in all-terrain vehicles and are looking for a Powertrain Design engineer to be responsible for the design, CAD modelling & drawing of components from concept through to production.

The Job
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for all design related actions on a variety of powertrain components or systems; e.g. component styling, purchasing and manufacturing issues with an emphasis on quality, reliability, timely delivery, and cost.
Helps to determine the ideal component manufacturing route to ensure overall design, performance, and cost conformance.
Helps to determine the nature and type of electronic models, detail drawings, and analysis required to support the above and supervises their release through the Polaris release system.
Acts as technical point of contact for the respective components with vendors and the internal project team.
Support & work with design draughters within team.
Prepares preliminary sketches and/or schematic diagrams and/or presentations to aid in the understanding and solution of engineering problems.
Participates in design reviews on projects to ensure adequate input and involvement from all interested groups.
Analyses field problems in association with others and recommends possible solutions.
Performs other miscellaneous project related assignments.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE:
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering or close related equivalent
Design experience in an O.E. Environment
Significant CAD experience (2,500 hours minimum ideally) Pro-Engineer
Experience with one or more of the following powertrain design categories: base engine and associated systems (induction, exhaust, cooling, transmission, installation); bolted joints and fasteners, castings and forgings, electrical component specification and packaging, powertrain accessories.
GD&T, FMEA, dimensional stack-ups.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Good level of people skills, able to work in a team environment.
Ability to work with domestic and international technology partners.
Microsoft software including Excel, Project, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Fast paced office environment
Travel as needed (less than 10%)
