The Job
Our client are a specialist marine civil engineering consultancy firm working on
prestigious projects in the UK and overseas with focus on the planning and designing of ports, harbours and other marine infrastructure. All of our work is therefore related to marine civil engineering projects. Recent projects have included the planning and design of large new ports with terminals for bulk, containers, RoRo and cruise vessels, as well as an extensive portfolio of leisure and small craft facilities.
This is a long-term career appointment with the opportunity to advance to a more senior
management position within the company. As an Engineer / Senior Engineer, you will be working on a wide range of marine projects. The role will be challenging and varied with excellent opportunities for career development. You will be expected to assist in the management of various stages of maritime engineering projects including strategy evaluation, detailed appraisal, concept development, detailed design and administration of contracts.
We are ideally seeking a Chartered Engineer (MICE, MIStructE or RINA)or near Chartered Engineer to work in our central London office. The successful candidate will be;
Competent in Structural design with excellent technical and managerial skills;
Familiar and capable of using the latest relevant codes of practice;
Computer literate and familiar with the latest STAAD design software package;
Experienced at designing steel structures such as footbridges including a clear
understanding of support bearings;
Capable of preparing practical steelwork details that can be readily understood by a
fabricator;
Capable of designing and detailing RC structures (preferable but not essential);
Self motivated with good communication, organisational and interpersonal skills;
Able to mentor and develop support staff;
Capable of writing readable technical reports;
Flexible and able to make visits to sites in UK and overseas from time to time.
Versatile with the ability to work on a wide range of projects;
Experienced in the special requirements for fixed and floating marine structures or
capable and interested in gaining the necessary knowledge.
