The Job

Outstanding opportunity for a senior and proven network specialist. We are seeking a seasoned network specialist experienced in supporting complex, multi-site networks. Ideally I am seeking a candidate with experience of the running the infrastructure for hosting retail web sites.

Key technologies you will have had exposure to include Cisco (WAN), Extreme (LAN), Nokia firewalls, Juniper products. Any exposure to Mitel VoIP or Motorola Wireless would be beneficial.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide 2nd and 3rd line support on Networks technologies

  • Knowledge transfer of specialist technology experience to other Networks team members.

  • Manage incidents in the Networks incident queue through to resolution.

  • Complete work packages as assigned by the Networks Competency Centre Team Leader

  • Identification of potential improvements to 2nd and 3rd line Networks support.

  • Actively communicate status of work items to team members and Networks Competency Centre Manager

  • Work on High Level and Detail Level Infrastructure designs following technical standards as defined by the Group Network Design Authority

  • Propose new technical solutions to the Group Network Design Authority

  • Support the Group Network Design Authority in technology decisions

  • Deliver to project and SLA timescales

  • Propose and implement new maintenance procedures

  • Provide out of hours on call support on a 1 in 4 rota

  • Occasional unsociable working hours will be required

Personal Specification:

  • A number of years experience in a similar role

  • Technical specialist for at least 4 Networks technology areas (WAN, LAN, Voice, WiFi, Remote Access, Internet / Firewalls)

  • Develops value add procedures.

  • Develops and champions standards.

  • Proactive communicator, Communicates effectively at all levels

  • Well organised, Methodical and conscientious.

  • Customer Focused and actively manages customer expectations.

  • Good Team Player.

  • Able to take a lead role and work independently when required representing the team in a professional manner.
