The Job

Supplier Quality Assurance Engineer

The Role:
As an SQA (Supplier Quality Assurance) Engineer you will be responsible for the quality performance of new product and current vehicle suppliers.
Principal Accountabilities:

• Conduct supplier audits to support business sourcing activities.
• Manage, co-ordinate and deliver Advanced Parts Quality Planning.
• Support internal Design FMEA activities and lead Process FMEA activities at suppliers.
• Support prototype and pre-production phases at suppliers.
• Set component quality standards with suppliers and ensure parts meet the required specification (dimensional / performance / aesthetic).
• Management of the Production Parts Approval Process.
• Coach and conduct containment, countermeasure & problem re-occurrence prevention activities both in McLaren and at suppliers’ facilities.
• Quality maturation and process improvement activities at suppliers.
• Lead supplier warranty reduction activities.
As well as our supplier base, this role will expose you to all areas of our business with regular interaction with Design, Materials Control / Logistics, Purchasing, Metrology & Production at all levels. The ability to develop and foster strong relationships both internally and externally will be an important factor in your success here.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

• Engineering degree or equivalent.
• 5+ years of proven experience in a Quality or Production role in an OE Automotive / Aerospace company or Tier 1 supplier would be advantageous
• Proven experience of logical problem solving skills – e.g. PPS, Six Sigma, and lean tools/techniques gained in a production environment.
• Comprehensive understanding and experience of APQP, PPAP and 8D Reporting.
• Computer literate - experience of Catia V5 an advantage.
• Sound leadership, communication and influencing skills.
• A highly self-motivating and flexible team player.
Experience within the following areas would be advantageous but not essential:
• Body systems
• Electrical / electronic systems
• Hybrid Technology
• Chemical coatings
