Introduction

We are currently looking for a Senior Scientist in Cell Culture Development to join a leading Biopharmaceutical contract company based in the Berkshire area.

Must have industry experience in cell culture process development working with bioreactors to GMP compliance

The Job

Role Overview:
To work on multiple client and in-house projects involved in the development and characterisation of recombinant cell lines used in the manufacture of therapeutic proteins using mammalian cell culture platforms.

Responsibilities
To design and evaluate cell line performance in customer and lonza platform processes.
To enhance and /or characterise process performance by investigating key process parameters using shake flask, wave and 10L bioreactor systems (stirred tanks and air lifts).
To transfer processes to manufacturing to ensure the successful scale-up of projects .
To communicate project updates to internal and external customers.
To author high quality reports for customers stages and in-house work.
To contribute to the efficient running of the department including instigating and delivering operational efficiency projects.
To contribute to technology development projects.
To be aware of current and future trends in the development and characterisation of mammalian cell lines.
To work to the highest scientific standards under the direction of the Line Manager/Science Lead.
Contribute to departmental safety programmes as required.
To develop and coach more junior scientists within cell culture Development

Knowledge/Experience:
MSc/PhD in a relevant life sciences discipline (i.e. cell biology, molecular biology, cell and molecular biology) biochemical engineering, biochemistry or other relevant field. The candidate will have industry experience in cell culture process development with handling of bioreactors from a GMP compliant company. Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrable analytical approach to problem solving are required skills.
