A leading Systems Integrator has an immediate opening for an Engineering Manager to be based from their office in Sussex.

The Job

The successful applicant will assume full line management responsibility for the Systems Engineering Department working as part of the UK Operations Management team. You will be responsible for the management of Engineering resources, the on schedule, on cost and on quality delivery of the Company’s engineering solutions.

Your main responsibilities will be:
* Provide the leadership and focal point to develop and maintain a culture of maximum re-use of engineering solutions in the pursuit of quality, schedule and cost benefits.
* Line and resource management of the Engineering Department.
* Development of procedures and checklists for the new offshore marine operations within the Oil & Gas sector.
* Manage the generation and maintenance of the Systems Engineering Design Standards and Design Libraries.
* Work closely with other Technical & Engineering Managers, Technology Department to address the adoption of new technology in the pursuit of quality, schedule and cost benefits within the Systems Engineering function.
* Manage the organisation of Training and Development as required for all Engineering Department resources; manage the technical aspects of the Apprentice Training scheme.
* Support to Sales and Applications Department in the generation of proposals and technical clarifications.
* Provide the interface to other Group Companies to ensure efficient resource/skill sharing.

The chosen individual will have a proven ‘Engineering’ management skill set in a fast track, value added engineering business. The ability to interface internally at Senior Management level is a must.

You will have demonstrable technical management skills in the delivery of large, complex control systems involving Control, Instrumentation and Safety aspects is another must, as is sound technical knowledge and experience in the application of Trusted and AADvance products within the Control and Safety Systems Engineering environment.
A track record in engineering and upgrading complex control and safety systems (DCS, PLC, SCADA, Fire & Gas and ESD) is also a must.

Experience in the line management and mentoring of team members is essential.
You will have strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with both customers and colleagues at all levels of the organisation. * Proven capability in the timely and on cost delivery of software based control systems projects.

A thorough knowledge and understanding of the IEC-61511 (and related) standards and their practical application in a project environment. Proven customer interface skills and team leadership ability, also strong commercial awareness of all aspects of the project delivery mechanism.

Candidates must be prepared to travel to customer sites (both in the UK and abroad) as required.
