The Job
Senior Powertrain Electronics Engineer
Department: Product Development - Electrical
Reports to:Principal Engineer – Powertrain Electronics
- Electronic Hardware Design and test.
- CAN signal specification and system test.
- System integration
- Engine and transmission control systems.
Job Purpose:
To develop and integrate safe, robust and reliable powertrain control systems for the company’s products.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
- Creation of System, Function and Test Specifications for Powertrain Control Systems
- System testing and validation, including documentation
- System fault finding and resolution
- Technical assistance. Engineering releasing activities
- Application of appropriate processes and standards
- Development of circuits for production and prototype vehicles.
- Development of interface modules for use on prototype vehicles.
The post holder will undertake other duties as may be required to achieve the Company’s objectives, commensurate with the grading of the post.
Qualifications & Experience:
Degree level (IIi+) in an Engineering discipline, with a bias towards Electrical, Electronics, Control systems or Microcontrollers.
Extensive experience within similar Powertrain Electronics roles.
Experience in Software design or system integration of Powertrain Electronics; system / component test and validation
Experience of engineering release process; CAN, Off board diagnostics; Whole vehicle system fault investigation.
Skills and abilities:
Ability to demonstrate competence in a selection of the following: Controller Area Networks (CAN) and tool; ISO26262; ISO15765; ISO14229; Transmission or Engine controller Calibration. Microcontroller interfacing; Off-Board Diagnostics. Software (C).
