Introduction

Role: To understand, design, develop and take through to production the new mechanical designs of a light weight product for the rail industry which is needed to support our client's business.

The Job

Key Skills:
Provide technical input at all stages in the project from marketing concept through
to full production, installation, commissioning and customer after sales support.
Very good standard of written and spoken English language
Design and development of mechanical systems for the railway industry
Portable instruments used on the track
Instrumentation and equipment mounted inside a railway vehicle, low g environment and underneath a railway vehicle, high g environment
Enclosures for electro-mechanical systems
Knowledge of the mechanical standards and approval processes used on railways

Required Skills:
Previous Rail experience
Design for high levels of shock and vibration
Fluent in SolidWorks
Work shop skills to fabricate and assemble designs
Liaise with manufacturers/suppliers to obtain quotations and delivery timescales
Installation and commissioning of equipment on customer sites
European languages useful
Physically fit and able to get on and off trains with no platform or ladder and walk
Long distances on the ballast
Chartered Engineer desirable
