Introduction
Software Quality Engineer, required to work on procedures and processes for a defence client. Supporting the Quality Manager in Identifying and Maintaining Quality Standards and Records. CMM experience would be ideal. SC required before start.

The Job
Role:
- Ensuring project quality requirements are properly identified, defined, and implemented in accordance with customer requirements and the company’s ISO9001 based Business Management System.
- Proactive membership of project teams (reporting to the Project Manager who has responsibility for project quality achievement) and interaction with customers and suppliers with the objective of ensuring customer satisfaction and promoting continual process improvement.
Qualifications:
1. A degree level qualification in quality assurance or another acceptable discipline
Experience:
1. Proven industry experience plus broad practical experience in software project quality assurance in ISO9001 based quality management systems, preferably in the defence or closely related industries.
Essential Requirements:
1. Provide support and direction in the establishment of effective project quality environments and maintain surveillance to confirm effective implementation.
2. Produce, maintain, and assist in implementing project quality plans.
3. Provide advice and guidance to Project Managers and project teams on all matters concerning quality.
4. Track and monitor project corrective/preventive action and non-conformity closure.
5. Participate in and represent the quality function as required from project initiation to closure, including internal/external meetings, procurement, document and design reviews, configuration management, verification and validation processes, non-conformity issues and concessions, and delivery.
6. Interface as agreed between the customer, other parties and the project on all matters pertaining to quality.
7. Provide input and support to supplier/subcontractor evaluation processes, and monitor supply performance.
8. Attend project progress meetings and provide data to support reporting as requested by the Project Manager or the Quality Manager.
9. Ensure appropriate quality records are identified and retained in accordance with company, project and customer requirements.
10. Liaise with the Quality Engineer (systems) in relation to project work and provide information to assist with the internal auditing process.
11. Provide assistance to the Quality Engineer (systems) in the areas of continual process improvement where this impacts project work and in particular measurement of customer satisfaction.
12. Assist the Quality Manager and/or Quality Engineer (systems) in investigating the implications of introducing new quality management system methodologies, e.g. CMM, and recommending appropriate process changes or additions to satisfy new requirements.
13. Other duties that may be required from time to time.
14. In particular good knowledge and experience of the application of configuration management techniques and the verification and validation of software and hardware products is required.
15. Experience of process improvement and related techniques, and in interfacing with customers, auditors, and other 3rd parties is required.
16. Appropriate experience may be considered in lieu of a higher qualification.
Desirable Requirements:
1. Proficiency with the MS Windows operating system and MS Office tools required. Some experience of UNIX based environments may be an advantage. Possession of good interpersonal skills to enable communication at all levels, enthusiasm and an attitude to succeed with a flexible approach to work.
2. The duties are to be performed at the company’s site in Fleet, or as may be required at a client’s or supplier’s site, or another client location.
3. Experience with a project-based defence company is ideal.
4. It is necessary to have or be eligible for appropriate government security clearance requirements (Security Check level minimum).
