The Job
This is a fantastic opportunity for a Control Systems Project Manager to join this busy and growing outfit based in the East Midlands.
In this role your primary function will be meet the strategic objectives of the company with respect to quality, service and business relationships. It will be your task to manage projects effectively, ensuring customer satisfaction, the meeting of customer deadlines and GP margins and to ensure implementation of latest British and Company Standards.
The fundamentals of this role include:
* Managing all projects (including identification/management of risks and production/ monitoring of project programme) allocated to you and your team, ensuring the overall success of the Project within technical, programme and financial constraints.
* Communicate effectively with other both internal personnel, external customers, consultants and subcontractors.
* Ensuring that the design, software programming, testing, commissioning and documentation meets the customer’s requirements and contract specification.
* Generate documentation in-line with the company and customers requirements including:
* Project Programme
* User Requirement Specification
* PLC I/O lists
* Functional Design Specification
* Software Design Specification
* Risk Assessment and Method Statement
* Programming software using the latest technology and preferred engineering techniques to maximise efficiency.
* Monitor the work in progress and capital employed on all projects allocated to minimise costs and maximise profitability.
* Attend monthly Project Manager Review Meetings and be an active participating member of improving the operational aspects of the Department, and the business in general.
* Produce project reports on a monthly basis (prior to the Project Manager Review Meetings).
* Hold regular Contract Reviews with the Engineers working within your team to ensure that any issues are resolved with the customer. To communicate information concerning the business (non-confidential) to the members of your team.
* Ensure any training needs within your team are addressed, and all staff supported to meet the technical demands of the project.
* Attend customer sites to gather information in order to produce accurate quotations for PLC/HMI/SCADA Hardware and Software.
The chosen applicant must demonstrate a competency in good man management and effective communication. You must have demonstrable technical knowledge of the PLC/HMI/SCADA/electrical control systems utilised and the applications. The job holder must have the ability to develop good working relationships with people at all levels.
* Strong organisational and workload prioritisation skills to achieve targets and minimise risks are essential.
* A commercial awareness and familiar with standard Forms of Contract (e.g. G90, MF1, NEC, etc.) through liaison with the Commercial Manager is also a must.
Applicants should be Qualified to HNC/HND/Degree level in Electrical Engineering (or similar discipline), with a proven track record in Project Management, PLC, HMI & SCADA Programming.
