Introduction

A DCS Engineer is sought to support, develop, design and implement process control systems for a Petrochemical site.

The Job

Responsibilities:
• Provide specialist DCS support, identify and implement opportunities for process control improvements in conjunction with the Manufacturing Groups and support the site’s training simulator.
• Regulatory control design, implementation and maintenance.
• Traditional advanced control design (excluding multivariable), implementation and maintenance.
• Graphic User Interfaces (GUI) support for operator and engineering functions.
• Control support during plant commissioning and start-up.
• Liaising with the manufacturing and shift teams with regard to process control issues.
• Provide training to manufacturing and operations staff to ensure full understanding and therefore utilisation of control schemes.
• Maintain and develop process control strategy, procedures, standards and control scheme documentation to ensure consistent application of control schemes.
• Conduct peer reviews to ensure robust implementation of control applications and strategies.
• DCS systems hardware support

Experience :

Process control engineering experience, including Honeywell TPS control system, regulatory control and traditional advanced control experience. Preferably degree qualification but minimum HNC.
• Experience working on continuous chemical processes.
• Regulatory control, implementation and maintenance:
o Knowledge of control system algorithms and functions
o Design of classical regulatory control strategies
o Familiar with cause and effect matrix charts for safety instrumented systems
o Tuning and troubleshooting
• Plant commissioning
• Advanced control design, implementation and maintenance:
o Knowledge of traditional advanced control techniques
• Understand algorithms and process economics to achieve control objectives
• Knowledge of the chemical engineering processes
• Design and implementation of Honeywell GUS graphic user interface
• It would be preferable but not essential to have experience in SIS, specifically Honeywell’s FSC.
