The Job
Job Purpose:
To investigate electrical concerns on vehicles in the field with customers or at Dealers, using PPS/8D methodology, set standards, responsible for parts quality, vehicle investigation and release engineering changes
Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
• Reduce Warranty on Electrical issues, and were appropriate change the design of electrical components to improve reliability and functionality.
• The knowledge of vehicle diagnostics to interrogate vehicles to support problem investigations
• Investigate concerns using PPS/8D methodology
• Issue engineering releases to solve concerns and approve the parts introduction
• Work with suppliers to ensure quality problems (particularly repeating or complex issues) are investigated & countermeasures implemented
• Liaison with manufacturing departments to implement vehicle quality standards
• This will mean responsibilities both in-plant and off-site at suppliers
• Along with core job functions the engineer will also be responsible for implementing cross-department projects, systems or window roles
Qualification & Experience:
Degree or equivalent in engineering discipline
Worked in OEM or Tier 1 supplier responsible for automotive electrical/electronic parts quality
Vehicle analysis using diagnostic equipment to support investigations and experience of loading upgrade software into vehicles
Experience in problem solving
Experience dealing with next tier suppliers
Practical experience of problem solving particularly with electrical products and on-vehicle systems
Reporting from internal & external meetings
Meeting lead and presentation
Experience using outlook, word, excel and powerpoint
Must be reliable and punctual with a drive to complete investigations
Able to work overseas
Support flexible working day as required
