Introduction

Our client is a large Aerospace company looking for 3 contract stress engineers to work on the C series project.

The Job

Please answer the following questions when applying for the role:

  1. What experience do you have with Stress Analysis, sizing and detail design of mechanical components?
    (we are looking for gears, bearings, splined shafts, gearbox and pressure housings)

  2. What competencies do you have with classical/hand calculations and Mathcad?
    (we are looking for good familiarisation with Roark, ESDU, Bruhn)

  3. What competencies do you have with fatigue analysis?

  4. What competencies do you have with FEA (Finite Element Analysis)
    (we are looking for CATIA V5 and ABAQUS)

  5. Which engineering materials do you have in-depth knowledge of mechanical/strength properties?

A stress sub-contractor is required to support the CSeries VAFN ProgrammeType of Stress Engineer required:
An engineer who is capable of conventional stress analysis rather than Finite Element analysis is preferred, some knowledge of gear analysis would be a benefit.

Basic Qualifications : Type of Stress Engineer required:An engineer who is capable of conventional stress analysis rather than Finite Element analysis is preferred, some knowledge of gear analysis would be a benefit.• Preferably Degree Qualified in Mechanical Engineering, similar engineering or science subject, possessing aircraft actuation product knowledge.
• Experience of stress analysis including the preparation of classical `hand’ calculations, PC based analysis tools and finite element analysis (IDEAS, ABACUS).
• Knowledge of structures, hydro- and electro-mechanical actuation systems.
• Knowledge of materials; their mechanical, static and fatigue properties.
• Understanding of the influence of manufacturing processes on the strength of components.
• Analytical, problem solving approach. Self Motivated
• Must be able to work under pressure and meet required time-scales.
• A Team Player able to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
