NATS are looking for an Airport Operational Engineer to join them on a 6-month contract at Farnborough Airport.

  • Applicants must be willing to obtain SC Clearance and resided in the UK for the last 5 years.
  • Fully onsite due to the nature of the role.
  • Rates are open to discussion, inside IR35.
  • 6 month contract with the possibility to extend.

Job Purpose: NATS is seeking an Airport Operational Engineer for Farnborough Airport, the largest airport in the UK and the second busiest in Europe. The role involves supporting air traffic control systems and overseeing maintenance management for various operational engineering functions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute planned and corrective maintenance on Air Traffic Control systems.
  • Prioritize faults and direct engineering resources for timely restoration of service.
  • Make operational decisions and provide guidance to ensure safe and efficient service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records and brief ATC and engineering staff accordingly.
  • Supervise Airport Maintenance Engineers and contractors.
  • Maintain Competency Ratings and report concerns to the Engineering Manager.
  • Conduct post-incident procedures and contribute to Incident Reports as necessary.
  • Work across a variety of equipment and interfaces in the Communications, Navigation, Surveillance, and Information domains.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Engineering qualification to Higher National Certificate (NVQ Level 4) or equivalent in Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, or Computer Science, with relevant experience.
  • ATSEP training is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of ATC systems and equipment maintenance.
  • Commercial awareness to understand the impact of facility failures on customers and ATM engineering systems.
  • Ability to prioritize actions under pressure and troubleshoot logically.
  • Teamwork skills and the ability to work independently.
  • Effective judgment skills in safety-critical environments.
  • Full UK Driving Licence required for airside driving.
