Matchtech Achieves Business Excellence Award

Matchtech Group Plc, one of the UK’s largest technical recruitment agencies, has been named ‘Business of the Year 2006’ Runner-up at an award ceremony this month.

The Business Excellence Awards are held annually by Portsmouth’s daily newspaper, The News. This year a record 135 entries were received from businesses across the community. Of the numerous award categories, ‘Business of the Year’ is widely regarded as the ultimate accolade.

To obtain this award Matchtech were judged on the company’s history, current status, financial performance, recent initiatives and innovations and current development plans.

Matchtech have excelled within the technical recruitment market over recent years. Last year they become one of the first agencies to achieve REC Audited Status as well as achieving triple accreditation to ISO awards for management. (ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001:1996 and OHSAS 18001:1999). This year the company have entered regional business and recruitment industry awards for the first time.

Matchtech’s sales director, Adrian Gunn said; “This is the first time we have applied for any business awards and it was great to be receive Runners Up for the 2006 “Business of the Year“ at our first attempt. We recruit for some of the technical companies on the short list, so we knew the competition was going to be tough. This achievement is a reflection on all the hard work put in by our staff.”

Matchtech, which employs more than 200 staff, has a turnover of £124m – which ranks as the highest turnover for a single regional recruitment office in the UK. Their turnover has doubled in the past three years, propelling them into the top ten UK technical recruitment operations.

Following on from their award success, Matchtech has also reached the shortlist for the Best Industrial/Technical Recruitment Firm in The Recruiter Awards for Excellence 2006.
