Matchtech sponsors Women in Transport (WTS) event
19/09/2011
Matchtech recently sponsored the WTS (Women in Transport Seminar) Summer Reception.
The WTS is dedicated to the professional advancement of women in transportation, helping women find opportunity and recognition in the industry. WTS London was launched in 2005, in acknowledgement of a chronic under-representation of women in the transport industry. WTS London is under-pinned by its policies on equality and diversity, sustainability and health and safety and the decisions of the organisations are governed by its Board.
Matchtech have been supporting WTS since 2009 and recently sponsored their Summer Reception event.
The main speaker was Ginny Clarke, Chief Highway Engineer for the Highways Agency with almost 100 guests attending to hear her fascinating perception on the industry
Mike Bowler, head of Matchtech's Built Environment was asked why Matchtech has continued to support WTS:
"We wanted to be more proactively involved in addressing the important issues of diversity and equality throughout the industry and demonstrating our commitment to this mission."
He also went on to say that Matchtech wanted to become a part of the Transportation industry, rather than just supply it, and that they hoped to create a mutually beneficial partnership to all members of WTS, both recruiters and job seeking professionals.
We had supplied to the Transportation Industry for many years and wanted to increase our exposure within the market and create new networking opportunities. We wanted to become a part of the industry, rather than just supply it.
Matchtech is now involved with promoting membership and sponsorship of WTS.
