Matchtech Charity Golf Day 2008

Matchtech Group, the UK's largest single site recruitment company, recently held a Charity Golf Day at Quindell Golf and Country Club in Whiteley in aid of The Friends of PICU (Paediatric Intensive Care Unit) at Southampton General Hospital. The event raised £730 which Matchtech Group then matched to raise a grand total of £1500.

Seventeen teams entered which included a combination of Matchtech's employees and their clients. Some of the clients involved were BVT Surface Fleet Support, Selex SI, Skandia and Ricardo.

The winning team (pictured above) included Matt Wragg (one of Matchtech's Department Managers) and Stephen Rodgers, Keith Baker and Mike Baker from Selex SI. In addition to organising the Golf Day, Matchtech donated many excellent prizes including a trip to London, a decanter and a magnum of fine wine. A silent auction for a DVD player was also held.

PICU has advised Matchtech that the funds raised will be used for a sonisight ultrasound machine which guides the insertion of intravenous lines into the tiny limbs of babies, or children who are suffering from collapsed veins.

Matchtech are the main sponsors of Friends of PICU and have made regular donations to PICU for the last four years. PICU at Southampton General Hospital is a regional centre of excellence in children's Intensive Care. One of the best, modern and most successful units of its kind in the UK, PICU treats approximately 700 critically ill and injured children each year, from babies up to seventeen years old.

"I would especially like to thank Matchtech Group for organising the Charity Golf Day and for match giving the money raised from the raffle – this is a very generous gesture. Matchtech Group have been, and continue to be, a very good friend and supporter of Friends of PICU and this is very much appreciated by the charity as a whole" Eddie Manchip, Honarary Secretary of Friends of PICU.
