Volunteering at Matchtech!

On Friday, 25th September eleven Matchtech staff members attended the Wildlife Trust volunteering day at Farlington Marshes near Portsmouth. Wildlife Trust is the largest UK voluntary organisation, aiming to conserve the UK's entire range of habitats and species. Josie Dean, Alex Spirriet, Ed Whitehouse, Jake Jessey, Nikki Healey, Mat Bottley, Aimee Gill, Natalie Desty, Vanessa Anthony, Sarah-Jane Lake and Warren Bonathan all worked incredibly hard. Between them they managed to clear considerable amounts of scrub and put up a lot of fencing, which in turn will protect the wildlife that resides at the Marshes.

Jamie Marsh, the Wildlife Trust’s Solent Reserves Officer, was amazed at the amount of work our staff completed; in a subsequent email to Matchtech he wrote:

"The matchtech volunteers came to Farlington Marshes to assist in a fencing and scrub clearing task. I was really impressed with the way they approached the task, the team's enthusiasm and the quality of the work. A great day's volunteering!"e

This was Matchtech's Community group's first volunteering day, born out of the company's newly appointed Sports and Social Committee, to celebrate our 25th Anniversary (we will be running other events to celebrate our 25th year). As such, Matchtech is taking steps to help conserve the natural environment of local communities.

There are numerous other ways to help support the Wildlife Trust. If you are interested in helping please visit their website for further information:http://www.wildlifetrusts.org/
