An excellent opportunity for an Estimating Engineer to join a well established Civil Engineering contractor
Job Specification:
Reporting to the Area Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing a professional and timely response to all sales enquires to the division. Therefore they will be responsible for fielding telephone enquires and providing advise to customers along the sales process, organising and completing site and building surveys, preparing layout drawings in support of the majority of estimates or tenders and preparing and co-ordinating the design work. Preparing and submitting competitive estimates, following up on submitted bids, attending the necessary meetings relating to work both internally and externally with the client. Investigating and resolving disputes and problems of a technical nature as they arise. Representing the company at trade shows and exhibitions as required.
Essentially our client needs someone with previous estimating experience within the civil engineering industry - preferably with working knowledge of mini piling and underpinning - essentially they must know what keeps a building structure sound in order to fulfill the role.
Due to the level of the position, this would not suit a graduate. They must have reasonable experience of estimating and surveying behind them in the civil engineering industry. Ideally we would like someone who has working with mini piling and underpinning before, however, we appreciate that this is specialised, therefore training someone up if they have worked in an estimating role in the construction civil engineering industry is possible.
Candidates must have excellent communication skills, numerical skills, organised, methodical and logical, have attention to detail, be persuasive and have the ability to easily build rapport with people in terms of the sales element of the role. They must be solvent, commercially astute and be a quick learner. Also must have a minimum of a HND/C in Civil Engineering or geotechnical related subject in order to be able to understand the technicalities of how a building remains intact and what mini piling and underpinning would be required to keep the structure sound!
