World Leading Oil & Gas Operator based in Aberdeen are looking for a Procurement Lead to join their evolving Procurement Function. Ideal Candidate will have experience in leading a Procurement Team within the Oil & Gas Industry.

Role Description;
The Procurement Lead will manage a small team of procurement professionals and is responsible for ensuring that commodities are procured in line with business needs and in accordance with business rules. This will involve managing purchase requisitions through the purchase-to-pay system for the full purchase life-cycle.
The role will involve educating internal business customers on best practice in the purchasing of items and services. This will at times involve changing processes where necessary and ensuring they are followed. They will also be required to develop and implement strategies for commodities that are high-volume, low-value in nature. The SPU is intending to move to a new purchase-to-pay system in 2011 and the Procurement Lead will be heavily involved in providing procurement support to the transition
The Procurement Lead will report to the Operations PSCM Manager.
Key accountabilities
- Lead, coach and develop a small team of procurement professionals
- Optimise Purchase-to-Pay processes associated with commodities to allow the business to access goods effectively and at optimal price.
- Educate the business and ensure compliance with relevant PSCM processes and procedures.
- Engage and intervene as necessary with the Materials Co-ordinators to ensure value is delivered from our commercial arrangements
- Responsible for the effective operation of the Materials Management System.
- Change processes where necessary and ensure compliance with existing processes
- Select appropriate e-auction tools to leverage increased value from the supplier marketplace
- Lead the development of sector strategies (category management) for low-value, high-volume commodities
- Support the transition of the current purchase-to-pay system to a SAP-based product (‘backbone’)
Essential criteria & qualifications
- A strong background in purchasing or supply chain management
- Experience of leading teams
- Effective supplier relationship management skills.
- Good experience of Purchase-to-Pay processes.
- Experience of SAP or other relevant financial systems
- Experience of transitioning and change of procurement systems
- Able to challenge established behaviour
- Experience of developing strategies for low-value commodities
- Experience of ensuring compliance with existing processes
- University degree (Three or four-year Bachelor's degree)
Desirable criteria & qualifications
- Experience in Procurement and Supply Chain Management with experience in demand management, sourcing and materials management.
- Experience of oil & gas or a related process industry
-Experience of using e-auctions/reverse auctions
- Experience of materials management
