Introduction:
New Buyer / Procurement & purchasing requirement for a leading Marine defence facility. We are looking for experienced Buyer & Procurement professionals to Support the team & develop improved performance, negotiating subcontracts, Materials & Services
Job Specification:
The Procurement Adviser will support the Procurement Manager and Commercial team to deliver key task objectives, build the procurement capability of the team and develop individual expertise within the team in line with business needs.
- Provide a service for the negotiation and agreement of sub contracts and materials orders within the delegated authority ensuring that the appropriate contractual terms are used.
- Support the Procurement Manager in the application of policy and manage the administration of BM Procurement Cards.
- Ensure efficient/effective communication, implementation and administration of the BM Procurement Policy including delegated authorities and respective procedures are adhered to.
- Deliver the professional procurement service committed to customers both external (MOD/RN) and internal (other BM Directorates) at the right time, cost and quality.
- Support the Procurement Manager in developing and producing Supplier Performance metrics and meaningful department metrics in the measurement of procurement performance.
- Provide support to other procurement team members to consistently deliver Department goals and improve core processes.
- Promote and execute within the team an ethos of safe working in line with Health, Safety, Environmental, Nuclear and Weapons policy and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure effective communication with both internal and external customers and suppliers.
- Prepare through team involvement a training development plan which ensures optimum flexibility and competence in line with national/industry standards.
- Support the implementation of continuous improvement best practice.
- Ensure that appropriate use is made of the company’s IT capabilities to maximise efficiency.
Experience, Education & Qualifications
Essential
Previous purchasing experience
Experience of negotiating a range of purchases / contracts
Experience of working within a Commodity/ Category Management structure preferably with cross commodity expertise.
An understanding of MoD standard terms and conditions
An understanding and experience of IFS from a procurement perspective
Good writing / communication skills
Well organised administratively
Experience in the use of Microsoft word and excel
Ideal
Ideally, educated to HNC, SVQ Level 3 or equivalent, and/or successfully undertaken appropriate commercial courses
Understands how to gain business benefit from other IT systems (i.e. e-RFx) in relation to the procurement function.
Flair for dealing / communicating with internal customers and suppliers
