A sweet time to be a Maritime Engineer

A sweet time to be a Maritime Engineer

Seawork International returns to Southampton next week with thousands of industry professionals expected to attend. For several years, Matchtech has been a part of Europe’s largest commercial marine and workboat exhibition, helping match clients with their perfect candidates during a opportunity-rich moment.

Within the UK maritime industry, but outside of the naval sector which is busy with multiple major shipbuilding programs, we’ve seen an increase in new vacancies for both contract and permanent hires within the market in design and production.

There’s also a strong demand for maritime professionals around the world, with ample opportunities around Europe for vessel builds to service the offshore wind farm industry. Employers are looking for skilled engineers, including: Electrical Engineers, Marine Design Engineers and Small Craft Naval Architects. It’s a great time to be involved in the maritime industry!

Year–on-year, Seawork is a hugely popular event, attracting over 7,600 industry professionals, 10,000 products and services, together with over 70 vessels. It’s a fantastic networking opportunity for candidates and hiring managers to meet maritime professionals from across the industry over the three days.

Be part of the discussion (and get a sweet reward for it)

For the fifth consecutive year, the Matchtech sweet shop will be open to all Seawork attendees. But this year there’s a twist and a game. We want to know what the most important factor is to you when looking for a new career opportunity. You give us your opinion, and in return we’ll give you a sweet treat.

Several of our specialist maritime consultants will be exhibiting at the event and our stand will be a hub for discussions on a plethora of topics.

For job seekers, we are on hand to discuss the current trends in the maritime sector, the current opportunities out there for skilled engineers and our experience of what employers are asking for from a candidate.  For employers, we can provide an overview of the market as we see it, discuss what job seekers are talking about and discuss the skillsets that remain in high-demand in the maritime industry.

If you’re attending, we look forward to seeing you there (and sharing our sweet treats).

Seawork International takes place at the Mayflower Park in Southampton, 13-15th June 2017. Come see us at stand PY25.
