Job description
Our client, a prominent organisation in the automation and energy sector, is currently seeking a Controls and Instrumentation Engineer to join their team. This permanent role involves coordinating the maintenance and improvement of process control and safety systems, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of the facility.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify areas for plant improvement and develop project work scopes and schedules.
- Design and implement new process control and safety systems as part of capital projects.
- Monitor CAPEX & OPEX budgets for C&I activities, ensuring effective and cost-effective performance.
- Act as Lead Engineer for site functional safety, development, maintenance, and support.
- Review and improve Safety Instrumented Systems documentation and compliance with international standards.
- Specify, test, and commission SIS and control systems upgrades.
- Provide technical support to operations, including diagnosis, root cause analysis, and implementation of remedial work.
- Provide leadership, direction, and supervision to C&I Technicians.
- Ensure documentation and certification compliance with statutory legislative and regulatory requirements.
Job Requirements:
- HNC (or equivalent) in a relevant engineering field or working towards it.
- Working towards attaining professional engineering institution membership and professional registration.
- Understanding of control and instrumentation design standards in oil production and gas storage operations.
- Strong problem-solving skills and pro-active in achieving positive results.
- Experience working in plant operations and interfacing with operations personnel in the energy industry.
- Engineering knowledge, training, and experience required to diagnose control system faults through root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with the design, maintenance, and operation of Safety Instrumented Systems.
- Knowledge of Functional Safety Standards IEC 61508, 61511 and Explosive Atmospheres BS EN 60079.
Competencies:
- Ability to plan and prioritise daily activities to ensure successful delivery of engineering works.
- Capability to build relationships, exchange knowledge, and communicate across all levels of management.
- Diligence and reliability in work tasks.
- Able to cope with pressured situations and strive for continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in engineering software such as PLC application software & AutoCAD.
- Strong skills in Microsoft Office, including Microsoft Project.
