What will I be doing?
Work as part of a team of CAM Engineers to ensure a smooth production process, through evolving and introducing the most suitable manufacturing processes for products. Provide line/process support to the industrial function, problem solving, taking corrective actions and identifying further opportunities. The team will focus on the programming and support of CNC machine tools and robotic cells. This specific role will involve the support laser ply projection, 5 axis programming and sheet metal CNC processes, including laser welding and cutting.
- Define manufacturing processes, ensure all processes are consistent and compliant with specifications.
- Design manufacturing processes with a TAKT/Flow philosophy and ergonomic risks in mind.
- Create and validate standard operating procedures, work instruction sheets, quality control points, methods of inspection and controls approval authorities for engineering disciplines.
- Create work instruction sheets, tooling requests and production support drawings.
- Ensure that the performance of the process meets the defined targets (quality, cost, delivery).
- Provide expert guidance to suppliers (internal and external).
- Plan, drive and coordinate activities contributing to the industrial product validation (methods, purchasing, engineering, etc.) in order to meet the defined targets, quality, cost, delivery.
- Establish global manufacturing process concepts, oversee the selection of plant and equipment and the preparation of factory layouts, and support the definition of detailed workplace layouts for machine tools.
- Manage engineering risk within the department by using a PFMEA approach and through the use of SPC to ensure sustainability and a repeatable manufacturing process.
What do you need from me?
Required Skills:
- Strong background in Manufacturing Engineering and machine shop operations within an Aerospace or similar heavily regulated industry.
- Proven experience with offline programming, ideally using CATIA V5, however, other CADCAM software experience will also be considered.
- Familiar with the information systems used within engineering and the supply chain: ERP systems, PLM, etc.
- Familiar with Windows operating system.
- Familiar with desktop tools (MS Office suite).
Desired Skills (not essential):
- Familiarity with Delmia or other robotic control systems.
- Familiar with various programming languages.
Person Specification:
- Alongside demonstrable experience, educated to an appropriate level (i.e. HND, Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, BEng, etc).
- Thorough and detail-oriented mindset.
- Open to change with a transformational approach.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate in English (both spoken and written).
- Clear and concise communicator.
- A good team player.
- Strong analytical skills to assess complex problems, interpret information from various departments, anticipate consequences, and apply hands-on solutions when necessary.
