Job Type: Permanent
Location: Harlow
Due to the nature of this role, you must be eligible for SC (Security Check) clearance. BPSS clearance to start.

Matchtech has partnered with a leading Defence and Security tech firm seeking a Senior Test Development Engineer for a permanent role, with multiple opportunities available for both permanent and contract positions.
Where You'll Make an Impact
As a skilled Senior Test Development Engineer, you'll spearhead the design of functional test equipment for circuit cards, sub-assemblies, and systems-driving quality through rigorous design standards, gated reviews, and proactive risk management.
Your Key Responsibilities Include:
- Test Engineering Leadership: Provide technical direction and mentorship on small to medium-scale programmes.
- Design Ownership: Deliver robust, reliable test solutions from concept to completion.
- Process & Governance: Drive compliance with test development processes and tools. Act as key contributor at design gates and reviews, managing risks and opportunities.
- Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with hardware/software teams to align system interfaces and protocols. Act as a main point of contact for customers and suppliers.
- Development & Support: Develop test hardware/software and validation procedures. Support manufacturing, resolve technical issues, and manage hardware obsolescence.
- Project & Planning: Track progress, report to leadership, and contribute to resource planning using tools like Microsoft Project.
- Compliance & Conduct: Uphold company values, H&S legislation, and ethical standards. Support wider business needs as required.
The Essentials You'll Need
- Technical Expertise: Strong background in test software design with excellent knowledge of analogue and digital circuit design.
- Documentation & Handover: Skilled in producing clear, comprehensive technical documentation and managing smooth design handover to production.
- Troubleshooting & Support: Exceptional hardware debugging skills with proven ability to support and troubleshoot during system integration.
Where I Add Value
- Industry Experience: Significant test development background, ideally within Defence, Aerospace, or other safety-regulated sectors.
- Tools & Technologies: Proficient in Mentor Graphics for schematic entry and PCB layout; experienced with common test architectures such as PXI and LXI.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of measurement uncertainty in test design and validation; capable in mixed-signal circuit design, power supply design, and high-speed serial networks, with a working appreciation of RF electronics.
- Software Expertise: Skilled in NI LabVIEW, NI CVI, NI TestStand, and C#; experience with software certification is a plus.
