Job description
Our client, a supplier in the aerospace industry, is currently seeking a Senior Electronics Design Engineer to join their team in Reading on a full-time, permanent basis. The role involves designing and implementing hardware solutions for aerospace products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead design activities for circuits, PCBAs, and systems using Altium CAD
- Work in a team on multiple projects simultaneously
- Drive problem-solving activities and perform Root Cause Analysis investigations
- Review and understand customer requirement specifications
- Perform engineering calculations, circuit simulations, and tolerance analysis
- Estimate, budget, and scope out new design concepts
- Identify project risks and offer mitigation plans
- Create, develop, store, and control PCBA designs and cable forms using Altium
- Lead the engineering verification and validation processes, including DFMEA and DOE
- Design and develop prototype circuits and test equipment
- Understand international electrical and electronic specifications, including military standards
Job Requirements:
- Experience in hardware, analogue, PCB, and electronics design
- Understanding of PCB design standards and materials that comply with AS9100 and IPC standards
- Knowledge of PCB manufacturing processes and MTBF calculations
- Awareness of component obsolescence
- Experience in a aerospace, defence or medical environment is beneficial
- Leadership qualities, including leading and developing engineers
- Knowledge in EMC design, FPGA development, and embedded development
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong analytical
