Job description
Our client, a prominent player in the Defence & Security sector, is seeking a skilled Software Engineer with expertise in Embedded C/C++ for a contract role. This position involves working on cutting-edge projects, primarily focusing on embedded C++ application development in a custom Linux distro built from Yocto.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage in full lifecycle software engineering, adhering to processes, procedures, and quality standards
- Develop embedded C++ applications within a customised Linux environment
- Work with lower-level platform components such as inter-process communications (IPCs)
- Conduct unit testing to ensure robust and reliable software implementations
- Occasionally delve into driver-level C programming
- Maintain awareness of software layering and Linux OS functionality
- Support test efforts using automated test harnesses in Python
Job Requirements:
- Proven experience in embedded C/C++ development
- Knowledge of Linux OS underpinnings and SW layering
- Familiarity with inter-process communications (IPCs)
- Ability to test software at the unit test level
- Awareness or experience in Rust is advantageous
- Desirable experience in supporting automated test efforts with Python
- Knowledge of Green Hills Integrity RTOS is a bonus but not essential
