Job description
Our client, an outstanding specialist within the HTP sector, is currently seeking a Principal Ecologist to join their team on a contract basis, traversing the nation to provide expert services related to highway projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Travelling extensively across the country to carry out ecological assessments for highway projects
- Conducting thorough surveys and habitat assessments to identify species and habitats of importance
- Providing expert advice to ensure compliance with ecological legislation and regulations
- Producing detailed ecological reports and technical notes for clients
- Collaborating with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to integrate ecological considerations into project planning and delivery
- Ensuring all ecological services are carried out to the highest professional standards and with no SDC (Significant Delays or Complications)
- Contributing to the development of ecological strategies and policies within the organisation
Job Requirements:
- Proven experience in ecological assessments within the highway sector
- Strong knowledge of ecological legislation and best practices
- Ability to travel extensively and work independently in various locations across the country
- Excellent report writing and communication skills
- Proficiency in ecological surveying techniques and habitat assessment methodologies
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
- Relevant degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or a related field
