Job description
About the Role
As a Lead Software Enqineer (Mobile Applications), you'll quide a cross-functional mobile enqineerinq squad whilst still contributing to our codebase. About a third of your time will be spent codinq alonqside your team, with the rest focused on leadership and technical direction.
You'll design and architect responsive mobile user experiences, optimise cross-platform performance, and implement seamless integrations for our React Native applications. When Product Managers bring new ideas, you'll translate their business requirements into intuitive mobile experiences into streamlined user journeys. You'll establish technical standards and best practices that balance code sharing with platform-specific optimisations across i0S and Android ecosystems. Naking key architectural decisions, you'll weigh the benefits of cross-platform consistency against platform-specific performance needs.
Leading a team of two engineers, you'll mentor them through code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance. You'll set mobile development standards that ensure reliability across device types and operating systems, championing practices like Test-Driven Development and Clean Code because you understand their real-world benefits.
You'll implement robust CI/CD pipelines specific to mobile development, ensuring consistent quality across app store releases while acceleratinq time-to-marhet. Workinq with our 0A team, you'll create testinq strateqies that ensure reliability across a diverse ranqe of devices and operatinq systems.
Job Requirements
You should be able to demonstrate the use of some of the below skills, preferably by referencing previous commercial experience:
Leadership & Delivery
- Leading multiple native mobile application software engineering teamsGetting things done and driving results with minimal supervisionDelivering large-scale design and build mobile app projects across multiple platformsManaging cross-functional teams effectively, setting clear objectives and addressing performance issuesUsing your emotional intelligence to resolve conflicts and coach team members
Technical Excellence
- Expertise in i0S and Android app development, including Swift, Kotlin, and/or React NativeWriting tested, maintainable code that follows SOLID principles for mobile applications
- Working with trunk-based development practices and feature flagsBuilding and optimising CI/CD pipelines for mobile apps
- Familiarity with mobile app deployment processes and app store quidelines
- Experience integrating mobile apps with backend services and APis
- Analysing DORA metrics to drive continuous improvement through data
- Designing metrics that provide meaningful insights into services Communication & Culture
- Communicating complex technical concepts clearly to different audiences
- Influencing decision-making at all levels of the organisation
- Building a culture of trust and collaboration within your team
