Role details:
Our client, a leading organisation in the Defence & Security sector, is currently seeking an Environmental Sustainability Lead to join their team.
The role is responsible for shaping business-focused activities around scope 3 greenhouse emissions (particularly in relation to current emission 'hotspots' of waste, business travel, employee commuting and homeworking, transportation and distribution), enhancing biodiversity on their sites, and making other workplace-based environmental improvements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver environmental improvements across the business.
- Shape activities focusing on scope 3 greenhouse gas emissions and enhance biodiversity on company sites.
- Work with various teams including Facilities Management, Sustainable Procurement, and Engineering to drive positive environmental changes.
- Responsible for the preparation of corporate reporting required to comply with UK legislation and regulation, and customer requirements. Currently, this is primarily the company's Climate-related Financial Disclosure and Carbon Reduction Plan.
- Collaborate with international peers to address sustainability risk, performance, and reporting across the EU.
Job Requirements:
- Significant experience in environmental sustainability within a large organisation.
- Environmental management knowledge equivalent to Institute of Sustainability and Environmental Professionals (ISEP) Full Membership level.
- Proven track record in driving environmental and business improvements.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills.
- Commitment to self-development and continuous improvement.
