We are recruiting an Assistant Project Manager to be located in the South Wales area. An ideal location for this role will be along the M4 corridor between Cardiff and Swansea.

The Job

Do you have the ambition to develop as an industry leading civil / geotechnical engineer? We have an excellent opportunity for an aspiring engineer to work across a portfolio of mining related tip management projects.

You will undertake training and knowledge transfer to become an expert in spoil tip management. Based in the South Wales region you'll support our Regional Project Managers in delivering a range of challenging and stimulating projects relating to disused tip management and public safety related issues

You'll be:

  • carrying out a key role in the inspection and management of colliery tip sites and undertaking property site inspections
  • lone working in challenging outdoor settings, working in all weather conditions and may involve nights away from home and working out of normal hours

  • compiling reports and specifying remedial and maintenance works
  • supervising contractors and consultants and liaising with statutory bodies and stakeholders to progress our project portfolio
  • supporting Regional Project Managers in delivering projects throughout the South Wales region whilst maintaining the flexibility to work across the UK coalfield
  • developing your knowledge and skills through work based training and development to become an expert in your field

This role is 2 year fixed term

About you:

  • A minimum HND / HNC in Civil Engineering, a full degree qualification is highly desirable
  • A full UK driving license
  • good knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles
  • good knowledge of ground investigation works
  • working knowledge of slope stability issues and calculations
  • a working knowledge of the management of disused tips and contaminated land
  • knowledge of AutoCad or similar software
  • experience of working with Health, Safety and Environmental issues
    • contractor and stakeholder management skills
    • a commitment to continued professional development and learning
